Do’s and Don’ts of Aftercare
Your new eyelash extensions look incredible! Whether you have a Classic, Hybrid, Volume or Mega Volume New Set or Fill, aftercare is standard.
Do's
- DO keep your eyelash extensions dry for 24-48 hours while the adhesive cures. Exposing your lashes to water, steam, or humidity within 24 hours will shock the adhesive preventing proper bonding
- DO wash your eyelash extensions in front of a mirror with a water based cleanser 24-48 hours after your application, focusing on the eyelid and base of the lash to remove any dirt, oil, or makeup
- DO sleep on your back or side and use a satin pillowcase to prevent breakage and loss
- DO brush your eyelash extensions only once or twice a day. Excessive brushing leads to premature shedding
- DO wash your eyelash extensions after crying, or working out. Eyelash extensions do not hold up well to salty tears or sweat
- DO be aware your eyelash extensions will shed from the natural lash not only as the adhesive breaks down, but also with the growth cycle of the natural lash
- DO maintain your eyelash extensions by booking a fill every 2-3 weeks. Routine lash fills are important to maintain the fullness of the eyelash extensions and the health of the natural lash
- DO reach out to your lash artist with any questions or concerns
Dont's
- Don’t use oil based products on or near the eyelash extensions. Oil based products break down the bond of the adhesive
- Don’t wash your eyelash extensions too aggressively. You are likely to cause damage and loss to the natural lash
- Don’t use makeup wipes
- Don’t use excess eye makeup. Clients using minimal or no eye makeup have the best lash retention
- Don’t sleep on your face. Sleeping on your face causes damage and loss to the eyelash extensions and to the natural lash
- Don’t pick at the lashes, apply mascara, or use an eyelash curler. Don’t cut your eyelash extensions. Don’t rub your eyes
- Don’t touch your eyelash extensions with your fingers. Oils transferring from your skin ultimately break down the adhesive faster and causes premature shedding
- Don’t put your face directly in the stream of the shower or allow your shampoo or conditioner to run down into your eyelash extensions
- Don’t get too close to an open flame or hot stove, your eyelash extensions are sensitive to heat exposure
- Don’t swim or dive with your eyelash extensions. They likely will not withstand the weight and pressure of the water
